PAINESVILLE LIONS CLUB
was at the Party in the Park again this year, with the golf putting ramp for the public to use to win prizes for a small donation. Many people enjoyed using this, and learned about what Painesville Lions Club. See pictures below.
PAINESVILLE LIONS CLUB
works to help people living in the Painesville area who need vision services when they can't afford them. We have been helping our neighbors in Painesville and Perry areas for the last 65 years. The larger part of our clients need eye exams and eyeglasses, which are done here. For more complicated vision problems requiring surgery or other extended services we refer clients to the St. Vincent's Eye Clinic in Cleveland.

These services are voluntary and based on reviewing the client's need and resources so that we can serve the largest number in need. A short form will need to be filled out and approved before aid is given.
Other things Painesville Lions may help with:
If there is a natural emergency in the Painesville area, our Lions Club may help people in crisis situations. Lions Clubs have been known to help neighbors around the world in tsunamis, hurricanes, floods and other disasters. Lions Clubs members are members of the communities they live in, and on hand to help. In such situations Lions spring to action without needing to be contacted from afar from a national office. We understand the problems personally, so we can assist in a much better, caring way.
Lions Clubs were challenged by Helen Keller in 1925 to become "Knights for the Blind". This has been a major purpose since that time, but we also help people with hearing problems plus many other kinds of help for natural disasters such as hurricane and tsunami relief and repair in recent years. Various clubs have taken on specific projects in their area that have come to their attention.

Crisis in Haiti
Though the Painesville Lions Club usually aims to help people in the local community to get vision or hearing care when they can't afford it we also help in larger issues. Lions Clubs International works throughout the world to help people everywhere, which we support in many ways. The crisis in Haiti caused by the earthquake in January of 2010 is drawing support to help people there recover and rebuild their country from the ground up. Lions Clubs International (or LCI) pitches in when such things happen and immediately sent funds to members of Lions Club in Haiti and surrounding countries to get this started. More funding needs to be made available and we are providing a link here to reach LCI for those who wish to contribute directly to this important relief.
There are other organizations where such support can be sent in, and a link to the American Red Cross is also provided below for anyone wishing to help Haiti through that phenomenal organization.
